We are all excited about what God desires to do on our mission trip this week. I plan to give a daily blog letting you know what’s going on with the team and let you know how God is working through us and in us.
We started our day by meeting at the DeFuniak Springs Walmart at 4:30 this morning. We traveled to Pensacola and boarded a plan to Miami. The flight was great! Once in Miami we had about a 3 hour layover. Finally, we boarded our flight for Guatemala City, Guatemala and landed around 3pm. From there, Bob and Georgette picked us up and we traveled about an hour to the mission house in San Lucas, Guatemala. Bob and Georgette are wonderful hosts. They showed us around the mission house, shared with us what God was doing through their ministry, exchanged our US currency, and then ate dinner with us. The owners of the mission house have been wonderful hosts too by providing an outstanding facility as well as authentic Guatemalan cuisine. We were not expecting such nice accommodations.
We ended our evening together as a team by talking about the events of the day and asking the question “What is God saying to you through this experience?” Jeff led us in a devotional from 1 Corinthians 2:1-5. He encouraged us to be mindful that we are here to represent Christ and to show and share the Gospel. We are not the savior but rather Jesus is the One who saved us and now has called us to take that message to those in physical and spiritual need. We can’t wait to see what God does tomorrow. Please pray that we truly will be His hands and feet. But most of all, pray that lives will be transformed by the Gospel!
